Video Pencil

Video Pencil turns an iPad into a live drawing tool for match video. Load a clip, pause it, and draw on it while you explain: no editing timeline, no keyframes, no rendering. The Football (Soccer) Toolkit adds tools made for match analysis. Tap a player to highlight them, and the highlight follows them as the clip plays. Give players names or numbers, which are remembered with the clip. Drag across two or more players to join them with a line that stays with them as they move. Draw smooth arrows for runs, passes and runs with the ball, mark space in perspective on the pitch, and drag a player to where they should have been. It's built for coaches who need to show players what happened, not spend the weekend editing. Pause, tap, draw, explain, press play, and rewind when someone asks a question. Record your explanation in the app and send it to a player or the whole squad, show it on a team-room TV through Apple TV or HDMI with only the footage and drawings on screen, or bring it into Zoom calls and live streams on a Mac with CueCam. Players can take the iPad and draw on the footage themselves. New clips are analysed once by an AI model to find the players. The analysis resumes if it's interrupted and is kept with the clip. Player tracking works on recorded footage, for review sessions rather than live matches. The toolkit grew out of a PowerPoint template made by former Premier League scout Ged Searson of AFCAS, and Video Pencil has been used on-camera by Harry Kane on the Bayern Munich YouTube channel. Video Pencil is a free download for iPad. The Football (Soccer) Toolkit is an in-app subscription at $19.99 a month or $149 a year, with a seven-day free trial. A club plan for coaching staff and team-room iPads includes a setup call with the developer.
