6v6+3 - Breaking Lines

Improve on defence splitting passes and playing in to out.

Two teams of six players; 6v6 in the area with 3 neutral players, two on the outside and one in the middle. When a team has ball possession they play 9v6. The aim of the game is to work the ball into the middle player and back out again to score in a mini goal. You can flex the rules of the game: - Need to complete 5 passes, including passing to the neutral middle player, before you can score. - Need to play the ball to each of the neutral players before you can score. - Can or cannot play neutral to neutral. This game is excellent at getting players to think about how they penetrate a defence, and how they move off the ball to receive to “score”. The mini-goals are in the exercise to keep it interesting for players, especially the defenders.
