To develop defensive organisation, pressing triggers, and coordinated team movement in a structured game scenario.
• 14 players, 2 G.K.’s. • Mark half a pitch out, complete with 2 zones. • The game is played within two designated zones, with each team operating in a 4v3 defensive overload in their respective zones. This encourages structured defensive shape and coordinated pressing. • Defensive teams aim to win the ball back by pressing intelligently and forcing the attacking side into predictable passing patterns. Defenders should work together to delay play, close down spaces, and intercept passes. • Transitioning from defence to attack: When a defending team regains possession, they must look to break out of their zone. To do this, one defender in possession must dribble across the line into the attacking zone to initiate an overload. • Once the defender successfully breaks the line, one additional teammate may join, creating a temporary 5v4 situation in the final third. This provides the attacking team with a numerical advantage to create goal-scoring opportunities. • If the attacking team loses possession, they must immediately counter-press to win the ball back before the defenders can transition to attack.
