To develop the defensive unit's ability to stay compact, protect central spaces, and manage transitions while coordinating pressing.
• Set up a pitch with a big goal on one end and two mini-goals at the other end. • Divide players into two teams of nine players, with one team having a goalkeeper. • The Black team begins play from the goalkeeper, focusing on building through the defensive unit. • The wide Green players cannot defend in the build-up, unless Black enters their zone. • The Black team can bypass midfield & use direct passes to the striker if needed. • The Green team must press aggressively to win the ball and launch attacks on the big goal. Once in possession, Green can use their wide players. • When defending, the Black team can only enter the wide zones once the ball is played into that area. • The Black team must remain compact, focusing on protecting the central spaces and making it difficult for the Green team to create chances.
