Defend, Defend, Defend

Develop individual and collective defending behaviours in a compact shape. Focus on defending outnumbered, regaining possession, and transitioning to counter with discipline.

• The session begins with one of the four defenders (black) playing a pass into the attacking team (green). • The attackers (green) now play 6v4 inside the main area, aiming to score in any of the five mini-goals along the top line. • Two neutral floaters (yellow) are positioned wide. They support whichever team is in possession. Floaters are limited to two touches and can be tackled. • The defending team can also use the floaters if they win the ball. • The defending team (black) scores by countering into either of the large wide goals on the outside. • Rotate attackers and defenders regularly to expose players to repeated scenarios.
