To be able to create and exploit space, blindside of the defender.
• Lose your width as you attack • If you receive on the touchline in the final third, good teams will shift across and shut you down, forcing you back. Lose your width instead and play on the outside of their shape. • Play in your markers shadow • If the defender needs to move their head to see you and the ball, you are in control. • Find a player facing forward • If we can find a teammate facing forward, we need runs in behind. • In your opponents shadow, run diagonally across defenders • If you do this, defenders need to match your run or pass you on to a teammate, which means you are in control.
