Improve a striker's ability to hold up play, shield the ball under pressure, and make effective link-up decisions in attacking situations.
• Use the final third of the pitch. • The coach plays a pass to the striker, who has a mannequin or cone representing a defender at their back. • The drill shows an optional second finish if another player is available. • The striker receives the ball under pressure and shields it. • The striker then decides between three options: • Laying it off to the coach or a supporting teammate. • Turning to create space for a shot. • Holding possession to allow additional support to arrive before making a decision. • If a second player is involved, they can combine for a quick shot or another attacking action.
