Improved ability to receive with pressure from behind.
Body Position and Scanning: • Emphasise an open body shape to see both the ball and surrounding players. • Players should scan the field before receiving to be aware of pressure & available space. First Touch: • The first touch should take the ball away from pressure and set up the next action (dribbling, passing, or finishing). • Use the back foot to receive when possible, allowing for smoother transitions. Ball Protection: • Teach players to use their body to shield the ball from the defender while maintaining control. • Stress the importance of balance and using arms to hold off pressure without fouling. Decision-Making: • Players should decide quickly whether to spin, dribble, or pass based on the position of the defender and the goal. • Encourage creativity and composure under pressure to find the best solution.
