Improve players' ability to press effectively by enhancing their awareness of pressing zones, body orientation, and cutting off passing options.
Setup: - Use a half-pitch with cones marking specific pressing zones (central, wide, deep). - A feeder acts as the opponent receiving the ball. - The pressing player (striker) reacts to triggers from the coach. Drill Execution: - The striker moves between designated pressing zones, adjusting body shape to remain aware of passing lanes. - On the coach’s trigger, the striker reacts quickly and presses the ball receiver. - The striker’s objective is to apply immediate pressure, forcing the opponent into a predictable pass or mistake. - The coach or feeder can move the ball between zones to challenge the striker’s ability to switch pressing angles and adjust positioning dynamically. - The drill repeats with the striker continually adjusting and responding to different ball movements.
