To develop the ability to provoke pressure from opponents and then break lines through controlled build-up play using centre backs and midfield rotations.
• Use two-thirds of a pitch. • Teams must builds from their goalkeeper using a back two, three or four. • Set up two clear zones: - Defensive third (build-up zone) - Midfield zone (pressing and progression) • Opposition team set up with a defined press shape (e.g., 3v3 in midfield, 2v1 pressing CBs) • Process: - Play begins with the goalkeeper feeding a centre back. - The CB is encouraged to draw pressure before playing forward. - CB plays inside to a #6, who has dropped in to support or rotated wide. - As pressure arrives, the #6 plays through the press into midfield runners. - Midfielders rotate positions or move into free space to break the next line. - Progression occurs into the attacking zone, ending with a finish. - If the defenders win the ball, they can score.
