Attacking Principles - Scan constantly to identify space or overloads on the opposite side. - Use third-man combinations or bounce passes to provoke pressure and draw the opponent in. - Release the ball early after regaining possession — the first touch post-regain is the most vulnerable moment. - Use one and two-touch play to increase speed and disrupt pressing pairs. Defending Principles - Press in pairs with discipline. One presses, one covers. - Show inside or outside to make the pass predictable. - Cover passing lanes and anticipate the switch attempt. - React immediately when possession is lost — counter press or drop depending on distance and numbers. Transitions - Be alert to changes in possession and adjust roles instantly. - Work on body orientation and awareness to turn defence into attack quickly. - Delay the switch until space is created — draw the press before exploiting the opposite side.
