Improve players' ability to recognise pressing cues, stay composed, and apply controlled pressure effectively.
Setup: - Use a 30x30-meter grid. - One striker and a coach are involved in the drill. - The coach will act as an opposition player, creating different pressing scenarios. Execution: - Passing & Observing: The striker plays a pass to the coach, who will perform a specific action upon receiving it. - Recognising Triggers: The striker reacts based on the coach's action, pressing when a cue is activated. ◯ Example triggers: - A heavy touch (signals an opportunity to press). - A backward pass (signals a chance to cut passing lanes and increase pressure). - A sideways pass (signals a need to maintain position and delay forward play). - Applying Pressure: The striker must use controlled pressure rather than blindly rushing in, focusing on closing angles and limiting options.
